Declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1975, the mediaeval village of Peratallada originally owed its name to the large ditch that surrounded it in living rock.
The 12th-century castle, tower of the hours and its Romanesque style San Esteban church are monuments that must be visited. Losing yourself in the village’s network of streets and savouring the life of its inhabitants is a highly-recommended experience for the visitor.
